Sweating it Out: The Surprising Health Benefits of Infrared Sauna

Infrared saunas have become increasingly popular in recent years, thanks to their many health benefits. An infrared sauna uses heat to warm the body directly, rather than heating the air around the body, like traditional saunas. This type of sauna has been found to have a wide range of health benefits, including improved cardiovascular function, weight loss, stress relief, and more.

One of the most significant health benefits of infrared saunas is improved cardiovascular function. The heat from the sauna causes your heart rate to increase, which can have a similar effect to moderate exercise. This can help lower blood pressure, improve circulation, and decrease the risk of heart disease. Additionally, as the heat expands blood vessels, it can also help in reduction of chronic pain and improve flexibility.

Infrared saunas are also great for weight loss, as they can help to increase metabolism and burn calories. The heat from the sauna causes your body to sweat, which helps to release toxins. Additionally, sweating can help in reducing cellulite, which is the build-up of fat and toxins in the body.

Another benefit of infrared saunas is stress relief. The heat and warmth of the sauna can help to relax muscles and reduce tension, which can help to decrease stress levels and improve overall well-being. This can also lead to improved sleep quality and sleep duration.

Infrared saunas are also beneficial for skin health. The heat and sweating can help to open pores and release impurities, which can improve skin clarity and overall appearance. They can also help to improve the elasticity of the skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

It is important to note that, like any exercise or activity, infrared sauna should be done in moderation and you should start slow to assess your tolerance. For most, a 20-40 minute session is perfect, especially if done right after a workout. Hydrating before and after is key. Adding electrolytes like LMNT is highly recommended.

The sauna sessions should be booked in advance on the Wodify app. Best practice is to also pre-heat the sauna for an hour or so before use. There is also a bluetooth speaker in there so you can play music or podcasts, please just disconnect when you are finished.
